Ok, so there really is no such thing as the 'perfect' contraception, but if scientists and the public don't try to find it, it will never come to be. So here is the challenge, think long and hard about what you see as the 'perfect' method of birth control for you. Get crazy, wild, and think outside the box.
So, the first step is to decide how you want it to work. Should the method prevent ovulation, block sperm and egg from meeting, prevent implantation, something else, or should it work in a combination of ways? Think about what would be best for you and your lifestyle. Now that you are thinking about how it should work, let's think about who it should work on. Should this method be used by women, men or should it be usable by both? When making the choice of who should use it, you should look at yourself and your partner. Would you trust yourself to take it and use it correctly? Would you trust your partner? Before you can really decide who to trust to use it correctly, we should decide how this 'perfect' method should be used. Again, think outside the box, look at what is available today and what you like and don't like about those methods. Think about how you would improve on them. Would a pill be the best way to use it, a patch, an injection, or should it be placed inside the vagina or on the penis. You get to decide, this is your perfect method. Now that we have some basics on this perfect birth control method, you need to decide how often it needs to be used. Should this be like the pill, meaning that it needs to be taken daily even if the user is not having sex for it to be effective? Will this be more like a condom that is only used during sex? Maybe it will fall somewhere in between the two, like the patch or vaginal ring. You get to decide. Would your perfect method be a temporary method, that is fully reversible, or are you more interested in a longer lasting method? Maybe you would prefer to have a permanent method invented that does not require surgery? We get to play with these ideas, and we get to develop our perfect method, which includes how long it would last and how often it would need to be used. Go To Page: 1 2
