Once Upon A Time, Or How To Change A Life
Jane's mother agreed to take Jane to their local women's health clinic so Jane could get the proper birth control method for her. Jane's mother got scared though, and was afraid that someone would see her taking her daughter to the clinic. Jane did not go to the clinic and get the birth control that she needed. Betty was concerned about Jane and the relationship with her parents. Betty did not want to see Jane get pregnant or get a sexually transmitted disease. Betty did two things to help Jane. Betty called another teen that she knew that already had a baby, as well as called the clinic to make an appointment for Jane. Jane met Betty's friend whose name was Karen*. Karen was still a young teen, but she had a baby. Jane got a little scared. Then Betty took Jane to the clinic for her first visit. The clinic told Jane all about the different methods of birth control and all about sexually transmitted diseases. The next day Jane went back to the clinic with Karen and her baby. The baby was very tired and fussy, this scared Jane even more. Thanks to Betty, Karen, and Karen's baby, Jane decided that she didn't want to have sex any more and she was not really as ready for the responsibility as she thought. The End This might seem like a story or a 'fairy tale', but it is not. Unfortunately it is true, at least to some point. The names of the individuals have been changed and not every single detail has been added to the story. If it were not for 'Betty', 'Jane' would have gotten pregnant and/or contracted a sexually transmitted disease. 'Betty' was willing to make a change in someone's life. She took time away from her own life and extended a hand to a teen that needed help and was unable to find it anywhere else. Thanks to 'Betty' and to 'Karen' this story has a happy ending. 'Karen' and 'Jane' are staying in contact with each other to offer support and the always needed shoulder.
