Cape York Peninsula southward through Queensland into New South Wales
Description
Crown of Head and above, pale brown, with fine lines of dark brown, color becoming courser toward the rump; fine lines on rump black, which slowly fades into white along rest of rump and uppertail. Upper wings like back, remainder of wings brownish-black, white spotted; tailfeathers black or brownish-black; lores, feathers above eye, cheeks, ear coverts, chin and throat white, bordered with narrow black line, band widens on forehead. White foreneck and chest, lightly tinged on center , bordered with brown on sides of chest, followed by second broad black band. Underneath bar, rest of feathers tinted light cream. Bluish-grey beak. Grey feet and legs. Dark brown eyes.
Breeding
Best bred in small groups in aviaries. Can be bred in large cages. Nests should be hung high, nests made in open boxes, canary nests, or even small bushes. Nesting materials usually consist of dries grasses and plant twigs.
