Marbled GodwitSeeking food by day or by night in shallow waters, Marbled Godwits primarily find food items by touch. This godwit's diet consists mainly of marine invertebrates, grasshoppers and lesser quantities of plants especially from grasses and aquatic plants and seeds. They also dine on crustaceans, mollusks, and Marine worms at their coastal wintering grounds. Marbled godwits fly in large, noisy groups in the spring. Males perform elaborate figure eights in the air. Some similar species to the Marbled Godwit are: The Long-billed Curlew, The Hudsonian Godwit, Black-tailed Godwit and Bar-tailed Godwit Marbled Godwit populations have decreased because of expanding farming areas that caused habitat loss.
