JAMES MAITLAND STEWARTAfter 1950, Jimmy was able to move from one movie studio to another. His career was well established. He could now ask for a percentage of the box office proceeds. He enjoyed working with Frank Capra, director Anthony Mann and Alfred Hitchcock. He filmed "The Glenn Miller Story," and "The Far Country," in 1954. He co-starred with such greats as Henry Fonda, Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Kim Novak and John Wayne, as well as others. Jimmy also starred in several westerns during his career. These included, "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance," "The Man From Laramie," "How The West Was Won," Cheyenne Autumn," and many others. In 1971, he appeared on television on "The Jimmy Stewart Show." During a career that spanned over 50 years, Jimmy won numerous awards and honors. Among these were the John F. Kennedy Award (1983) and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.(1985) Jimmy starred in many movies during his career. Today, most are available on video cassette. As this holiday season approaches, be sure to rent a copy of "A Wonderful Life." It's a great story that will touch your heart and make you appreciate life's blessings at this blessed time of the year. Author's Note: Jimmy was married to his wife, Gloria, for 45 years. She died in 1994. Jimmy was heartbroken and went to join her on July 2, 1997. He left behind twin daughters, Kelly and July, as well as a stepson.
