Chapter 2: Yoga of Knowledge - Verse 25, 26 & 27

One need not grieve for this body which is perishable.

Verse 25:

"avyakto 'yam acintyo 'yam avikaryo 'yam ucyate tasmad evam viditvainam nanusocitum arhasi "

(25) The Soul is invisible, inconceivable, immutable, and unchangeable. Knowing this, you should not grieve for the body.
Explanation: The Soul is consciousness. It does not manifest itself like the destructable and preisable body. It is inconceivable, being different from the insentient body. It is unchanging and immutable.
Hence the wise who realize the nature of the Self do not grieve.

Verse 26:

"atha cainam nitya-jatam nityam va manyase mrtam tathapi tvam maha-baho nainam socitum arhasi "

(26) if however you think, this Self as being constantly born and constantly dying, even then O mighty armed one! There is no reason to grieve.
Explanation: If one considers the property of the Soul to be same as that of the Body - that is, constantly dying and constantly born, there is no reason to grieve.
Because birth and death are inevitable for a body, whose nature is modification.

Verse 27:

"jatasya hi dhruvo mrtyur dhruvam janma mrtasya ca tasmad apariharye 'rthe na tvam socitum arhasi "

(27)Death is certain for the born. Rebirth is certain for the dead. Therefore you should not feel grief for the inevitable.
Explanation: One takes birth as a result of Karma or activities of previous lives. One dies for the next. This cycle is revolving and recurring until one attains liberation.
The cycle of birth and death does not support murder, slaughter and war. However it becomes inevitable inorder to maintain Dharma and law in the society. The war of Kurkshetra was the war for justice and Dharma. Being a warrior it was Arjuna's duty to fight in the battlefield and not be distracted from his path of duty.

Arjuna had to wage the war to establish Dharma.
