Arjuna says the following to Lord Krishna -
Verse 26:
"tatrapasyat sthitan parthah
pitrn atha pitamahan
acaryan matulan bhratrn
putran pautran sakhims tatha"
(26)As Arjuna looked before him, he saw fathers, grand fathers, teachers, uncles, brothers, sons, grand sons and comrades.
Explanation: Arjuna found his cousins, comrades and loved ones
standing opposite his army in the battlefield.
Arjuna was overwhelmed with delusion. Standing in the ranks of the enemy were his own relatives and dear ones who seemed determined to fight.
Verse 27:
"svasuran suhrdas caiva
senayor ubhayor api
tan samiksya sa kaunteyah
sarvan bandhun avasthitan"
(27)
There were dear friends and fathers-in-law in both armies. Arjuna looked at these kinsmen standing in array.
Explanation: Both the armies had friends standing against each other.
There were fathers-in-law now fighting each other.
When Arjuna saw these kinsmen, ...
Verse 28:
"krpaya parayavisto
visidann idam abravit
arjuna uvaca
drstvemam sva-janam krsna
yuyutsum samupasthitam
"
(28) He was filled with deep compassion and said these words in despair:
"O Krishna! When I look at these kinsmen eager to fight the battle, ...
Explanation:
Arjuna looks at his kinsmen eager to fight with each other.
Arjuna finds himself overpowered by compassion and is thrown away from his path of DUTY.
He addresses Kishna and begins to explain his dilemma to the Lord.
In next few verses Arjuna pours out his heart to the Supreme Lord.
