DEBT - Another Four-Letter Word

From beginning to end, this book is packed with logical remedies for common, and some not-so-common, dilemmas:

  • Can't make your minimum payments? In Chapter 4 "Reducing Your Debt and Improving Your Cash Flow" Sember tells us, among other things, that creditors can be receptive when consumers need to re-negotiate a payment plan, or lower interest rates. Sember then tells how to negotiate those better terms, and what you can realistically expect.

  • Need to raise some cash? Sember advocates action, reminding readers that even the little things -- raising the deductible on your insurance policies, using coupons, having garage sales -- can all add up. (p.51)

  • Declaring bankruptcy? Sember tells us we'll need an attorney, and we'll also need to know that there is more than one type of bankruptcy that is available to consumers. (p. 62-64)
In Chapter 5, readers will also find a comprehensive list of additional relevant resources, including some websites, while Chapter 6 briefly discusses how marriage and divorce can impact finances. The remaining chapters focus on creating a realistic, workable plan for your future financial health.

As with any self-help guide pertaining to laws and legal situations, readers need to be aware that the information in this book can suddenly become outdated, and some advice may not even be applicable, depending on local laws. But as a self-help guide, REPAIR YOUR OWN CREDIT AND DEAL WITH DEBT does provide consumers with the general knowledge, support and resources to sort through their financial problems in a logical way. If you're experiencing financial difficulties, you should probably take a good look at this book. REPAIR YOUR OWN CREDIT AND DEAL WITH DEBT may be just the thing to help you get back on track.
