La Ferme du Pressoir

This month we're taking a trip across the big pond to France for a look see at one of the many bed and breakfasts available.

I thought we could start in Bayeux, Normandy at the 600-acre family home of the Delalande's family. This lovely stone farmhouse dates back to 1650 and has remained in the family since that time!

The setting is serene offering a peaceful and quiet vacation retreat perfect for couples and families. Accommodations include double and triple rooms all decorated with traditional antiques, guest sitting room and lush gardens.

Nearby tourist areas include a short drive to Omaha Beach where you can explore the famous D-day beaches spanning 50 miles that played a significant role in World War II.

Other areas of interest are Mont St Michel, the 2nd most visited location in France, the Medieval town of Bayeux where you can see the Bayeux Tapestry that was made in the year 1067, Caen with its Memorial to Peace museum, Monet's Gardens and Paris which is approximately a 3 ½ hour drive by car.

Local cuisine is also something to be explored. Many of the local restaurants use apple brandy and rich, fresh cream in their dishes. Camembert cheese is also served and you can visit the museum itself while visiting Camembert.

There are many things to do in the Normandy area including fishing, hiking, horseback riding and golf.

Our next stop is in Grignan, Provence at the La Maison du Moulin. What a beauty!

Located in the Rhone Alps region along the river Berre resides this lovely old olive mill situated on 12 peaceful acres.

There are four beautifully appointed rooms at La Maison each with its own private entrance and a garden or terrace. There is also a separate guesthouse with 2 rooms, kitchen, terrace and a garden.

The local region is full of things to do and places to see. The architecture of the many chapels and numerous castles makes a visit here a true step back in time. Explore till your hearts content by car or be adventurous and go on horseback!

Local artisans display their crafts from sculpting original pieces to the age-old craft of glass blowing. The area is also home to many festivals throughout the year.
