Casa San Juan is located just three blocks from the main plaza in Merida that is the capital of the state of Yucatan. Founded in 1542 by the Spanish, Merida, also known as the White City, is a favorite tourist destination.
There are many places to go during the day while in the city including museums, parks and open markets and in the evening, first-class restaurants, open-air cafes, nightclubs and concerts.
Nearby is the famous ancient archeological site of Chichen Itza. Another ancient site depicting Mayan architecture is Labna with its beautifully formed ornamental arch.
A second location in Merida is The Nameless Place. This colonial style bed and breakfast and hostel located 2 blocks from the main square is family owned and offers private rooms along with hostel accommodations. They offer a co-ed dorm with bunk beds and a private dorm room with accommodations for six.
For private accommodations, several rooms with private bath are available. Internet access, laundry facilities, linens and guest kitchen are also available.
Our next stop is in Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque and a stop at Quinta Don Jose a small, cozy B&B with a very friendly atmosphere and great breakfasts! A quiet getaway where you can relax in the heated, outdoor pool or enjoy an in-house massage. What a way to end the day!
Traveling along we find a beautiful B&B, the La Serena, located in Melaque, San Patricio.
You can while away the afternoon relaxing in a hammock in their tropical garden or walk the half block to the beach. Located near the downtown area, restaurants, banks and a cyber café are within walking distance of the B&B. Better yet, hire a bicycle for the day and go on your own adventure and explore the area.
