Well well well! As I sit here in Canada , I am appalled. Just a few minutes the score ticker at www.cricinfo.com told me that India had lost by 36 runs. A big loss to Kenya, now to SOuth Africa........ I hope they make it the Finals.
You are only as good as your last game, but this is very much the team that won last week against SA. Can seven days be such a difference? We can say oh it is just a game, sometimes players perform sometimes they don't! But if you get paid over one lakh rupees just to play, then you better play to win! Because if we just said "It is a game" then there will be no accountability. What was the change from the winning team to the disasterous performance after? Consistency? Well the lack of it seems to be the problem. But first we have to understand that this is a new team with youngsters. Players like Yuvraj, Sodhi, Dasgupta have still have not understood the importance of staying at the wicket. Even while things are looking tough. The team has been selected with WOrld Cup in mind, but still the exclusion of Robin Singh is a mystery. He is a rock solid performer who delivers when it is needed the most. He is our Mr.Dependable. Putting him in the middle with Yuvraj and Deep would be an excellent idea. But for now India still has to rely on the top 3 to score, in the absence of LAxman, and from then on it is just luck. THe Indian team needs a stronger middle order, something to make it resist a collapse, prevent the exposure of the tail.
