India in South Africa: Ganguly - Not a Bad start.

Well the first ODI was not a bad start for Saurav Ganguly and by the time this article goes online we would have a couple more matches by then.

The century was a welcome one for Ganguly who had been struggling with his form. But the century is not any good if the team loses.

The batsmen did their job but the bowlers failed. Ganguly's performance in a match can be judged by the first 3 overs, if he is timing the ball well he will stay in. But a couple of misses out side the off-stump and you know he is in trouble.

He is a very good player of spin bowling. He like to come out of the crease, even to faster bowlers. And here is the problem with the Test Matches. Short balls will be plentifull with the bowlers not getting penalised. Sheer pace has never been Ganguly's forte, remember the fiasco with Shoaibh Akhtar?

I am very worried about Allan Donald. What if he fighting fit for the Tests?

Ganguly comes lower in the Test so he might not see the new ball, but sooner or later he will face it. He should utilze that time period to get his feet in and get into a groove.

He should spend some time in the nets with some pull and hook shots as he will need them a lot.

As far as captaincy goes I think he is doing okay and should be kept at the helm till the world cup. Frequent changing of captains is not good for the team.

Next week We will discuss the Fiasco between Sachin and Saurav, which however is denied by both . But there seems to be a lot of truth in it.

Till then , Adios.
