David BoonHere's something Boon did during a cricket match in Adelaide. It was a WCS cup match which was being televised live, in 1988. Guess what he did? Oh you 'll never guess it , as no one has done it before, atleast on a cricket ground which is being watched by millions - Live!! So what did he do? Unbelievable, yes very uncharacteristic...I have a feeling that you have already started cursing me due to my reluctance in sharing with you the secret! Well I guess you are justified in doing that, this article is not something taken from the Hitchcock library, so why the hell should the suspense be drawn so further?? So I might tell it to you. Should'nt I ? I know you are tearing your hair apart and swearing at me in the choicest local dialects.Ok, Ok I will tell you. SO it was 1988 in Adelaide in the WSC cup. Boon was on the crease batting, and suddenly he bent down , and started vomitting!!! Yuk!!! yes, that was my first reaction too.....but Boon went on to score a century and was named the man-of-the-match. Ooohhh!! So Ganguly might take a hint from that, after all its been a long time since he scored a century!!! David Boon was born in Australia (How naieve of me!!) well to be geographically specific it was Launceston, Tasmania. He was born in the midst of Christmas festivities on 29 of December , 1960. David boon had many aliases, he was a.k.a Daniel, Bab, Babs, Stumpy, "Boon, S.", "that short backward square from Tasmania", Boonie, so on and so forth. Boon was always a slow starter in tests. He would gradually build up his innings, but when he got his feet in , he was as formidable as the Titanic.....OK lets try the Russian Submarine....uh-oh!! bad joke, my apologies!! His defence was his forte. And on this natural ability he developed his offence with the cut and pull shots being prominent. He made his first class debut for Tasmania against Queensland (Brisbane) in 1978. But it took him 2 years to get to his Maiden first-class century,114 Tas v Vic (TCA Hobart). He wore the baggy green for a one day encounter against the West Indies in 1984. The he entered the test arena in the same year against the same team in November. He played his last test against Sri Lanka (Adelaide) on 25-29.1.96 & scored 43 and 35.
