"FISHING" STORY CONTEST

© Mike Campbell

Here is your chance to tell the whole world that fishing story you are so proud of or that fish story you may have stretched the truth about -- just a little bit.

We are running a contest for your most interesting fishing story, so get your thoughts (or lies) together, and send me your story or stories. I will personally read each entry, and my wife and I will select and post what we consider the best stories, with the top story winner receiving Roland Martin's best selling hardback book, "Roland Martin's 101 Bass Catching Secrets". That story will be published during the month of October on my site here at Suite 101.com. We'd also like photos, so if you happened to take a picture, even if it's just of you looking forlornly out on the water in the general direction of the one that got away, send it! We'd like photos of places you fish, your family fishing, your boat, anything fishing related! Just attach the photos to your email entry and send to: emikk@hotmail.com

I wish all of you the best of luck, and am looking forward to reading each and every one of them!

As an example, I'm going to post the very first fishing story I ever wrote. By doing this you can see that if I can write a fishing story anybody can. This one is Wayyyy out there, so hang onto your pole and don't get pulled in --

SNAKE

I got on the water so early that morning the fish hadn't even had a chance to wake yet. It had already hit 103 degrees and the sun wasn't even up. I left the house without eating, and after an hour on the water I felt a hunger pain shoot through me that could have hit 4.0 on the Richter scale. So, I dropped two eggs overboard into shallow water for a quick soft boil. After I finishing off my breakfast, I poured what coffee I had left in my thermos over my head to cool off, and nearly froze to death. I fished, if that's what you want to call it, for three more hours without a bite. By this time it was so hot that my line was melting on my reels and sticking together, making it that much harder to hit my targets. I couldn't stand it any longer, so I headed my boat to the back end of a shady cove.
