Fish Tail

Have you ever heard the old saying, “if a fisherman’s mouth is moving he must be lying? Well, the more I fish the more I believe it. I have found on a few rare occasions that I have -- lets put it this way -- been known to tell a whopper or two. Some of them have been close to being believable and some not so close. I have gone out of my way to confuse and dumbfound some of my friends and enemies alike about my fishing exploits. Mind you now -- most of what I have bragged about, boasted about or stretched the truth about is based somewhat on the truth. Just finding that part of one of my stories can be the hard part. I do not believe that I am alone in not telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. In the belief that I was not alone in this endeavor I went looking for stories, jokes and anything else that some other fisherman is passing onto another fisherman, wife, friend, family member or total stranger. Guess what I found? Some little non-truths I would like to pass onto you. Hope you have a good time. I sure did! After filtering through almost one hundred of these I am passing on my favorite five. Keep smiling and fishing, for one goes hand-in-hand with the other.

Fishing rule #1: The first-time fisherman will always catch the biggest fish.

Fishing rule #2: The worse your line is tangled, the better the fish are biting.

Fishing rule #3: Fishing will do a lot for a man but it won't make him truthful.

Fishing rule #4: When you are fighting the biggest bass of your life is when your youngest child will need to go to the bathroom (RIGHT NOW!!!!!!)

Fishing rule #5: No matter how you tell your newest fishing story it is not how your wife remembers it, and she will announce that fact every time you tell the story to who ever you are telling it to. Fishing rule #6: The only time you have ever in your life forgotten your wallet is the day you are stopped by both the police and game warden. Fishing rule #7: (this one every fisherman knows by heart) The one lure you don’t have is the one lure they are biting on. Fishing rule #8: It is only when you have dragged your boat to your favorite lake 2 hours away is when you find you left your boat keys at home.
