Louis Gregory died on July 30, 1951, at the age of seventy-seven. Shoghi Effendi appointed him as a Hand of the Cause, posthumously. In 1972, the Louis G. Gregory Baha'i Institue in Hemingway, South Carolina was established as a tribute to him, and, in 1985, the Baha'i radio station, WLGI at http://bci.org/radiobahaiusa/ was launched from there. In 1995, the first Baha'i museum in the United States was opened, the Louis G. Gregory Baha'i Museum. This Museum is located in his childhood house in Charleston, South Carolina.
Truly, Louis Gregory was not only an outstanding Baha'i teacher, but one of the frontrunners in the movement to bring racial unity to the United States.
