Pest Birds

Caged suet feeders and seed feeders will control some larger birds, but I have found them ineffective against starlings, which can get enough of their head and shoulders inside the cage to reach as much suet as they want. Since my yard is certified as a backyard wildlife habitat, I do try to be as accommodating to all of the bird species that I can, and the only reason I took down the suet feeder was because the starlings were becoming so aggressive that they discouraged other birds from coming to my feeders. I'll give them a couple of weeks to adjust their attitudes and find other food sources, and then I'll rehang my suet feeder in a separate part of the yard so that I can again enjoy the downy woodpeckers and bushtits that also come for the suet without disturbing the birds at my other feeders. If the starlings again become aggressive, I'll have to consider other options. Have any of you had problems with "pest birds"? How have you dealt with them?
