The ships of the Centauri Republic© David Ye
Continuing on from last time, I will now examine the ships belonging
to the Centauri Republic, they are the second oldest race amongst the
younger races. Centauri warships are all equipped with at least two
half moon shaped fins attached to the hull of their ships which does
not seem to have a practical purpose, but it seems that fins are for decoration
purposes only.
The Centauri basically have two types of capital ships and one type of fighter, the first of these can be classified as a cruiser (but is much smaller than other ships of similar type) these ships have four of these fins and are arranged in a cross like pattern. The cruisers does not seem to have the capacity to carry fighters on board, so it is at a disadvantage when caught alone with a similar enemy warship with on board fighters. The ships themselves carry single shot heavy pulse cannon on the centre-front of the ship (The Centauri seems to be the only race that does not carry some sort of beam weapon), and some local defence guns somewhere else on the ships. Next up is the Centauri Battleship, this is their heaviest capital ship and looks like two cruisers joined side by side. They have many quickfire single shot pulse cannons attached to both the upper and lower part of the hull, there seems to be a hanger opening in the centre middle - probably for transport craft and personal liners. Again it seems very small for a capital ship, the defences of B5 can take one out without too much trouble. Lastly their fighters look like crescent moons with the tip of the wings bent downwards. They have two single shot pulse cannon up the front and is highly manoeuvrable. All of their ships have artificial gravity and are all painted purple - probably due to their fascination with the colour. Well that's it for this week, next well will be looking at the ships of the Narn Regime. Go To Page: 1
