Mr. Garibaldi - A pain in the butt

Well, have you ever had one of those times when the whole world seems to be turning against you and there seems to be no way out and all hope is lost in you being found alive? Well, to the ordinary man, this sort of situation would normally end up with a body and no clue. But for Mr. Garibaldi, it is just another day on the job. Mr. Garibaldi is probably the most resourceful, cunning, skilful and annoying person on Babylon 5 and perhaps in the entire grid Epsilon. That's all you could want in someone with the position as the head of security in a place as diverse and dangerous as Babylon 5.

Mr. Garibaldi possesses a unique skill of detecting and infiltrating conspiracy rings, gathering the evidence that he needs and then stopping whatever the conspiracy was intending to do. He does this through a sharp lookout for anything unusual in a person's business deals by doing background checks, constant surveillance, and a list of sources that only he knows the details to. Everybody has a personal agenda behind what seems to be legitimate business and Mr. Garibaldi can sniff these out and be right on top of them even before they do their business.

But such skills can also have very deadly consequences if he goes too far or finds out too much then he becomes the hunted. But threats do not discourage him - on the contrary, they only strengthen his resolve to get what he wants. At the end of the day he usually gets his man - or gets himself in real danger. On occasion he comes very close to dying because he took just one step too far to get at the truth. A prime example is of course when he uncovers the plot to assassinate president Santiago but was shot in the back by his second in command who was of course involved in the plot.

Just because a man is good at his job does not always mean that he has great social skills, as demonstrated by his failed love life with Lise Hampton (When Garibaldi and Lise had just patched things up). All in all, Mr. Garibaldi may not be the best person to get along with, given his annoying habits (including his dry sense of humor) but if you get into trouble he might just be the only person who can save you life.
