The PSI Corp

Of the many darks and mysterious organisations in the B5 universe, the PSI Corps is one of the most sinister - even the Shadows look pale in comparison to their methods of doing things. First, a little background - the PSI CORP was formed over a hundred years ago in about 2156 from the Internal Security Act. This was set up to provide a means of control over the newly discovered telepaths abilities and to provide protection of the ordinary person's privacy. The purpose of the PSI Corp was to take in newly discovered telepaths, train them in properly using their powers and provide a home for them. Thus you could call it an institution for telepths, and once you "join" the Corp you are in it for life, and no one may leave. All rights and privileges that they had once enjoyed are removed permanently. The Corp is an independent arm of the government that is able to make its own rules and policies that govern its internal affairs. This means that although the PSI Corp is part of the government, it is a totally self-contained organisation whose activities cannot be interfered with or questioned except by the highest echelons of Earthdome. Anyone who has to have any official dealings with telepaths (for using their services) will have to go through PSI Corp and make sure the telepath is registered with them and anyone who is not registered or have left without authorisation is considered a "rogue." These "rogues" are hunted downed by the PSI Corp through strong telepaths (most of which are P12s) known as PSI cops and is especially trained to deal with "rogues" and either take them back or take them down. One of the most famous of these PSI cops is the famous (or infamous) Mr. Bester, a cool and ruthless man almost devoid of human feelings. The Corp has a great deal of power and many have suspected that they were behind the assasination of President Santiago and installed his successor President Clarke. And there are strong indications that they plan to one day overthrow Earthgov and run the show for themselves.
