Londo´s ambition has grown even further. He thinks he can have anything he wants, even for personal gain, not just for the Republic. He thinks his own importance, even though contained on Centauri Prime and perhaps Babylon 5 to some extent, is so great, that everyone will want to talk to him and that he can use others to further his personal ambitions. We see this in the episode, "The Geometry of Shadows" in the second season with the Technomage Elric.
In "The Geometry of Shadows", a Technomage, Elric, has boarded Babylon 5 and Londo has found out. He finds Vir and explains "if he had the endorsement of the Technomages, it would have considerable influence on those back on the Centauri homeworld." (Lurker´s Guide) When Vir finds the Technomage, he tries to scare Vir away, but Vir is not scared. So the two talk but the Technomage declines to have an audience with Londo. Vir even offers money that Londo has given, but Elric stil declines. So, Londo tried another avenue - Sheridan. And of course Sheridan asks for Londos´s help, which he eagerly gives. Sheridan calls Elric into his office, and Elric assures him they are not a threat. Then Londo comes rushing in. Elric is immediately upset, and shows Sheridan a recording of Vir asking for an audience. Londo pretends to be outraged that a recording was made. But then Elric blows up the recording device Londo has just planted. Sheridan is furious, as is Elric. What we have seen is the lengths to which Londo would go just to get one moment of a Technomage´s time. The direct approach did not work. So then he tried to be sneaky and hope he could get it by them. All this was for his own personal gain. Meanwhile, a holodemon has possessed Londo´s computer and is buying shares of stock in worthless companies. So, Londo goes to apologize. As Elric is leaving he does meet with Londo and gives him some information. He says that he has withdrawn the spell but he will spend the rest of his life paying for other mistakes, and then explains: "You are touched by darkness, Ambassador. I see it as a blemish that will grow with time. I could warn you, of course, but you would not listen. I could kill you, but someone would take your place. So, I do the only thing I can. I go. Oh, I believe it was an endorsement you wanted. A word or two, a picture, to send to the folks back home, confirming that you have a destiny before you." Elric provides this. "Well, take this, for what little it will profit you. As I look at you, Ambassador Mollari, I see a great hand reaching out of the stars. The hand is your hand. And I hear sounds--the sounds of billions of people calling your name." Go To Page: 1 2
