Changes to Crusade

Following rumours of massive changes in the production of the Babylon 5 sequel series, "The Babylon Project, Crusade," I decided to investigate the matter further. Firstly the news first broke on a news and gossip web site "Aint it cool news." It claimed that the Crusade's producers (TNT network) were considering making changes to the show that will completely transform it permanently.

Some of the more significant changes that were detailed on a memo written by a TNT Network executive say the new series will have the following characteristics:

1. It will be absolutely independent of Babylon 5, and all references within the new series to B5 were be removed.

2. All of the costumes within the show will be changed (especially the military ones) to more "Star Trek" style, meaning figure hugging uniforms etc.

3. All the human characters are to use any excuse to get into a fight or brawl with Aliens.

4. And finally, there should be one character that goes around and has sex with every alien being that he comes into contact with.

These are just part of a larger list of significant changes to the Crusade series that has been proposed, apparently. This document has certainly caused a lot of heated debate and discussion all over the Web, and in response to this, the creator of Babylon 5, J. Michael Straczynski, has issued a statement saying that he is aware of the memo and says that most of the changes on it were only suggestions and will not go ahead. But he went on to say that there were changes to be made to the show such as sets and costume overhauls to make the show look better.

And so it seems to be a false alarm about TNT meddling within the inner workings of crusade until recently another revelation surfaced that TNT has stopped the production of Crusade to accommodate some changes such as costume changes, sets upgraded and so on. All previously filmed footage of crusade is to be scrapped and re-filmed to accommodate those new changes. So, right now the production of Crusade is in a complete shambles with rumours running rife about everything. Go check out the site Aint it Cool News and decide for yourself.
