AutoCAD and Y2K

So, where are your problems then? Where the problems are coming from is in the financial records and bookkeeping software. If you are using any of Microsoft's' Office programs, such as Excel or Access, you should probably take a peek at their Y2K page at MS Search and see if your program passes their tests. You can also go to MS Y2K Product Info for the complete list of compliance on all of Microsoft products.

If you are using any of Intuit's products, such as Quicken, Quickbooks, BankNOW, Financial Planner, QuickPay or other programs, you should look at Intuit Y2K and see if your products is listed. Some of their software dies on Dec 31, 1999 while others go through 2025 or 2027 or 2999. There are many different variations, so make sure to check for the specific product that you are using.

If you have custom billing, payroll, or other money software, you should check with the vendors for compliance.

You may also want to check out the following sites for more information on various programs that are compliant with the Year 2000 bug at either Year2000 or BritNet Y2K.

On Tuesday July 14 Symantec introduced a new product called Norton 2000 that is supposed to check your system for you for compliance. It is currently set up for Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, Quattro Pro, Access, dBase, Clipper, Fox Pro, and Paradox as well as for your PC's BIOS clock. In September Symantec will expand on its database of supported programs to include more fixes become available. The only downside to this is the cost. A mere $1,225.00 for a 25 user license, breaks down to just below $50 per machine. The home user version will not be available until September. It will include Symantec's popular LiveUpdate function to update your programs database of compliant fixes through your Internet connection with a single click. If you prefer a selection of programs to choose from, you may want to check out Yes2K for either Win 3.1 (FREE) or Yes 2K for Win95 (Demo). Also avaliable is Millenium Scanners for 500 U.K. Pounds. (Anyone know the current conversion rate?) You can find other solutions at www.rightime.com, www.sbhs.com/y2k/index.htm, and www.rigel.co.nz

While you probably won't be effected by this bug in your own systems, you should probably think a little about all the software
