You can use the MOVE and COPY commands just like OFFSET. Type COPY or MOVE, then type in a distance such as 6". Pick a base point and move the mouse in the direction you want to move or copy and press return. This little trick also works with the LINE command. Pick a point to start from, type in your distance and before you press return, move the mouse in the direction you want the line drawn, then press return.
