The ALMS features racing versions of some of the world's most popular sports cars, including Audi, BMW, Callaway, Corvette, Panoz, Porsche and Viper. Internationally-known road racing stars such as Hans Stuck, David Brabham, Bob Wollek, Jan Magnussen, Rinaldo Capello and others will square off against North American standouts such as Dorsey Schroeder, Bill Auberlen, Boris Said and Canadian Ron Fellows In addition to the racing action, visitors enjoyed a festive atmosphere, including live music and four extreme carnival rides in the speedway's infield. In keeping with the spirit of LeMans racing tradition, spectators had the option of visiting the paddock and garage area to see the ALMS cars up close, and ALMS drivers held an autograph session for fans on Saturday of race weekend. Order of finish: #1-P Audi R8 (117 laps), #2-P Audi R8, #50-P Panoz LMP07; #3-GTS Chevrolet Corvette C5-R (109 laps), #45-GTS Dodge Viper GTS-R (106 laps), #44-GTS Dodge Viper GTS-R (96 laps); #23-GT Porsche 911 GT3-RS (109 laps), #22-GT Porsche 911 GT3-RS (107 laps), #6-GT BMW M3 (107 laps). Round two of the series will take place March 14-18, 2001 at the 49th Superflo 12 Hours of Sebring presented by The NewDodge.
