WGGT GETS SET FOR ROUND FOUR IN TEXAS

"That was a great race." Said Cindy Lux from Victory Lane, at Sears Point, 2000." I'm sure it looked better from the outside. It's more difficult to get a lead like that and hold it. I wanted to redeem myself after Charlotte (a DNF). I guess I was on a personal mission." (Was this win easier than last year's?) "Heck no, I'm getting older!"

When speaking about her battle with Bayer, Galica said, "I had forgotten it was her birthday. Otherwise, I might have been kinder to her. That was a fun race, a tough race. I've never worked so hard in my life. I was quicker on one side of the track and she was quicker on the other. "

"It was a really really hard race," said Bayer. "The competition was good between Divina and I. She tried to pass me everywhere. In Sebring she made a mistake and I passed (her) and won the race. Here I made a mistake and she passed me."

The Women's Global GT Series, fresh off its first season, opened March 17,2000 with the Superflo 12 Hours at Sebring Presented by Dodge. Bayer, in only her second race in the Women's Global GT series, seized the season opener at Sebring 2000 by passing pole winner Galica on the eighth lap and holding her lead to the checkered flag. Bayer averaged 85.669 miles per hour and finished 3.57 seconds ahead of Galica, who, ironically, had "coached" her earlier in the week. In her only other WGGT start, Bayer was third at Laguna Seca in 1999 at Monterey, Calif.

Defending series champion Lux and runner-up Galica were among 14 entries that launched the series' second season. Third place point winner, Milka Duno of Caracas, Venezuela, and Belinda Endress of Newbury Park, Calif., the series' most improved driver, returned also. Other returnees included Bayer, Audrey Zavodsky of New Boston, Mich., winner of the 1999 series inaugural at Road Atlanta; Dana Moore of El Cajon, Calif., Niki Ruman of Washington, D.C., Amy Ruman of Kent, Ohio, Sarah Wahl of Dublin, Ireland, Terri Hundertmark of Indianapolis and Arizona State freshman Nikki LaRue of Erie, Colo.

Two newcomers at Sebring were Alisa Kincaid of Hillsboro, Ore., and Sherri Decoursey of Martinsville, Ind. Sears Point debuted three more new comers- Karen Salvaggio of Lancaster, Calif., Liz Boeder of San Carlos, Calif., and Chie Nakajima of Tokyo, Japan. Bobbie Marshall of Fort Worth, Texas,
