Wally Dallenbach, a NASCAR Winston Cup driver helped officials set the lighting for the Paul Revere 250, by taking the wheel of the Corvette Pace car. The race was run under full lights, unlike the Rolex 24, which ran at only 20%. The only modification to the track lights after qualifying was the dimming of four reflector lights near the entrance to the road course.
The revival of the Paul Revere also brought out an impressive list of competitors many of who remembered the race. " As a kid, I remember reading about the Paul Revere 250 every year and I always wanted to go," said Butch Leitzinger, driver of a Lola with Scott Schubot. "I'm glad the Grand-American Road Racing Association has resurrected that historic race." Leitzinger joins a list of very impressive drivers who competed in their first Paul Revere 250. And as it turns out, most of them made it as the top five finishers. Brian Redman came out of retirement to compete in his first Paul Revere 250. He drove one of the four European entries in the race, in the SportsRacer Lights class. It was his first appearance as a driver for the Redman Bright Team. He is 60 years old and remains active in vintage and historic competition. The next event for the competitors in the Grand-Am Series will be the Sargento/Road America 500 at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, July 7-9. Go To Page: 1 2
