RANDY POBST TEAMS WITH ALEX JOB RACING

"Randy Pobst is one of the most underrated drivers in this series." Said Bill Bowser, race commentator, hour 18 of the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, February 6, 2000. "Pobst has a history of professional and SCCA racing and I don't know why a big team has not snatched him up."

Pobst, a Melbourne , Florida resident, a veteran racer and GT champion, was snatched up by privateer Alex Job Racing, of Casselberry, Florida . Alex Job Racing specializes in Porsche race cars, was first in class for the American LeMans Series, and the recipient of a $275, 000 bonus at Road Atlanta in September, as winner of both the 24 Hours of LeMans and the Petit LeMans.

Quoted in AUTOSPORT magazine , British driver ,Johnny Mowlem said "My tip (for who will win the GTU class at Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona) is the Alex Job Racing Porsche 911GT 3-R of Randy Pobst, Bruno Lambert and Mike Conte. .. Pobst is very quick." Along with co-driver Bruno Lambert, of Seattle, Pobst has signed for both the Grand American Road Racing Association and the American Le Mans Series. At the first race of the American Le Mans Series at the Superflo 12 Hours of Sebring, March, 1999, Randy drove a 911 Porsche for Job, earned the fastest qualifying time for the GT class, and finished second.

He is a two time touring car champion in the North American Super Touring Series, winning in both 1996 and 1997.He won the inaugural North American Touring Car Championship in 1996 driving a NEUSPEED Honda for T.C. Kline. His efforts helped Honda win the Michelin Manufacturers1 Cup. In 1998, he was the winner of the USRRC Watkins Glen Six Hour endurance race. In 1994 and before, Randy contested the full IMSA endurance series eight times, winning two championships and co-driving for two others. He won the Watkins Glen 24 Hour four years in a row. A versatile driver, he has shown his ability in a variety of makes and models, with twenty years of experience.

Randy said,of joining forces with Alex Job, "We have worked well together in the past and as a privateer team, although we are not factory sponsored, our relationship with the Porsche factory is a warm one. The car is great, the crew together and I was happy to have driven the fastest time in the four day testing, a 153.5. We were definitely contenders for the win at the Rolex 24 Hours."

Do you ever watch Formula 1 racing? I just ask because the season started on Sunday.
