Doesn't anybody want to win this Championship?

Todd Kelly made a triumphant return to Australia for the sixth round of the V8 Supercar championship at Darwin's Hidden Valley with a repeat of his China success.

Kelly displayed his good form from the outset in the Shoot out when he earned a front row starting position alongside Holden Racing Team's other car driven by Mark Skaife. "It's just great to see the red cars back up the front, it's been a bit of a struggle for a fairly long time. Now that we've got the cars sorted out a little bit better, we can do more of it for the rest of the year. It's pretty promising to be able to come from China and back it up here, it's great, " said Kelly.

Off the line Kelly made a better start than Skaife, as most people seem to be doing this season, and took the lead. Kelly continued his domination for most of the weekend until Garth Tander passed him in the pits in the last race. With second place in the final race enough for Kelly to secure another round victory Kelly cruised home behind Tander's Holden Special Vehicles Commodore.

"Everything has really come together, it was a bit of a rush start to the year. This is the momentum I was talking about in Shanghai, and it's going along all right so far and the main thing is we're going all right in the championship. It's good to go back to the workshop and be in that situation where we're up there now instead of panicking about catching up," said Kelly.

The leaders of the championship all seemed to strike trouble at this meeting and while they could feel fortunate that they did not lose ground to their main rivals each also missed the opportunity to make a valuable series points gain. In the Sunday morning race, the second for the weekend, Stone Brothers Racing series leader Marcos Ambrose while running near the front running in fourth place had a front tyre go flat, spearing him off the track. Ambrose managed to stop the Pirtek Falcon before the tyre barrier. Even though where he went off was near the end of the lap the time taken to get back to the pits and replace the tyre dropped the championship leader to the back of the field. "What an amazing weekend. There were just so many highs and lows on both the Pirtek and Caltex sides of the SBR garage this weekend," said Ambrose.
