Lowndes converts pole at Eastern CreekSkaife's dog day continued in race two when a similar incident occurred at the approach to turn 3, only this time it was Steven Richards in a Holden on the inside of the corner. Then late in the race Skaife gave his old sparing partner Russell Ingall's Caltex Falcon a serve in the rear. Ingall managed to regain control before being forced off the track and maintained his track position in front of Skaife. Meanwhile the race a the front of the field was a Ford battle between Lowndes and Ambrose. Ambrose led the first part of the race until the round of compulsory tyre stops. This time Lowndes crew came out on top with stop of less than four seconds, while Ambrose's crew took half a second longer. Not much but it was enough for Lowndes to take the lead and he was never headed. "It's a great moment for the team to finally win a round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series," said Lowndes. Despite finishing equal with Ambrose on points for the day Lowndes was credited with the round win because he won the final race.
