Those plants called Conifers

Having had these plants around the place for a few years, it is easy to see why they are such a popular and convenient type of plant to have around. The majority of them are evergreen, and that is a plus for a start. They seem to be able to grow in most climates, and ours is not the friendliest in the summer months - but they survive. One of the myths, that they are cold climate plants, can certainly be destroyed when one considers we reach temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius in the summer. It is true, though that some of the varieties inhabit forests in some of the world's coldest countries. But, there are an equal number of them that grow in places as far apart as Australia, Norfolk Island, Africa, and the Middle East.

Conifers are among some of the most insect/pest free plants grown. It is a fact that sometimes mites attack the young terminal growth. A spraying of an approved miticide will overcome this.

They are recognised by architects, gardeners and landscape artists as being among the most inspiring trees in the world for plantings of driveways, avenues, etc. The Conifer presents an almost unlimited choice of subjects for these designs. They resist heavy weather and that is perhaps the main reason why they are so often chosen as screenbreak and windbreak plantings. Conifers are used to stand proud over the patios and the lawns all over the world.
