A walk on the wild side

At the dark and distant end of the solar system, far from the warmth and light of the sun, we find the planet Pluto.

Pluto is the outermost planet in our solar system. For the past few weeks, we have been discussing these outer planets and the lessons they teach us over a lifetime.

Recently, astronomers have been debating whether or not to let Pluto retain its status as a planet. That is their debate. Astrologically, there is no doubt that this small body has an enormous impact on our lives.

In ancient mythology, Pluto was the Lord of the Underworld, the god of the dead. Because we are all born to die, no one can escape his power; equally, no one can escape unchanged when Pluto is activated in their chart.

Because it is one of the slower-moving planets, Pluto impacts whole generations according to its influence on the sign it was in when you were born. Keywords for Pluto are power, transformation, obsession, and control.

HOW IT IMPACTS YOUR GENERATION From 1914 to 1939, Pluto was in the sign of Cancer. This generation struggled with issues of security and defending the self from the outside world.

Pluto entered Leo in 1939 and remained there until 1957. Leo is the sign of self-expression and those born in this generation have a powerful need for personal recognition, for putting their own individual stamp on life.

From 1957 to 1972, Pluto was in Virgo, the sign that seeks perfection. People born in this generation expect the best out of themselves and set high standards. They will also tend to have a deep interest in health issues and will find themselves obsessing over the details of daily life.

Pluto traveled through the sign of Libra from 1972 to 1984. This generation, which is just starting to come into its own, will likely bring about a revolution in the arts. They will demand fairness and justice in society and will be a force for changing relationships for the better.

From 1984 to 1995, Pluto was in Scorpio. Those born to this generation will be powerful, determined individuals who will not be afraid to call for deep changes in the way society views life - and death.

Since 1995, Pluto has been traveling through Sagittarius. The generation being born now will grow up seeking the truth. They will not settle for easy answers and their search will result in major changes in religions, as well as in the way our children are taught.
