Mercury Toxicity and Asperger Syndrome

The other day I stumbled across some information about Mercury toxicity that stunned me. In February 2001, a group of doctors met and discussed the issue of Autism and Mercury toxicity and developed a consensus of opinion on how to safely detoxify someone with autism. Between them, several of the doctors had successfully treated 1500 children with autism. This meeting was very successful and resulted in a detoxification program to assist other doctors and parents in implementing this therapy.

I had (long ago) wondered if something (virus?) had attacked my son in the early years. My son was born by emergency c-section due to fetal distress. I had been given the drug pitocin to stimulate labour but it didn't work. (I came across an article about a doctor in the U.S. who did a survey of women who had pitocin during labour and 60% of them had autistic children). About 5 weeks before his birth, I had a hernia operation which he seemed to come through just fine. He was a beautiful blond, blue eyed baby with a twisted left foot, a tongue tie and huge birthmarks on his left arm and chest.

Healthwise, he has had a very difficult time. At two months of age to six months he had unexplained bleeding in his bowel movements, several rashes, was gassy and colicky. He had great difficulty feeding and by the time he was a year old, he seemed to be constantly sick with colds, ear infections, etc. even though I had put him on soy milk. At 18 months, he developed tonsillitis 5 times in a row, resulting in a tonsillectomy and adenoid removal at 22 months. After that, he developed asthma, allergies, acid reflux, one eye seemed to cross, his teeth went grey and he couldn't seem to swallow without choking.

By the time he was 4 years old, he landed in the hospital with severe pneumonia and asthma, having been sick about every 3 weeks for years. This pattern of illness stayed with him until he was around 9 years of age when we moved from an area full of farms and trees to a more populated area. When he was 5 years old he complained of tingling and pain in his legs. He had tubes in his ears when he was 10, after many ear infections and two broken ear drums. Over the next few years, he was sick less often and his asthma improved as well. Now it is rare for him to get sick, but the odd flu will knock him right out.
