Should You Force a Child in The School Setting?

team of teachers and parents agreed that the core subjects were important for our son to learn and every effort would be made to keep him from falling behind in those, but the rest of the subjects could be changed, so he is quite happily learning Japanese instead of French now. We can see that he feels less stressed at school as a result of this and the teachers seem less stressed too!

Our underlying belief in our child is that if he puts his mind to it, he can learn anything about any subject and we don't want to destroy his spirit by making him conform to the school "academia" that they decree he should learn. There is a brilliance in our son that is very rare and we do not wish to dampen down that brilliance by a lot of "you shoulds". Unless something in his life is extremely important, urgent, morally wrong, or hurtful to other people we do not impose our will on our son, actually, we tend to treat him like we would any other adult - which he will be, one day.
