Sweets for the sweety-Mango Cobbler


Impress your sweety or a favorite friend with this baked pie for this month of hearts. It will surely bring a smile to the recipient's face and they will appreciate the gesture.

Tropical mangoes are luscious and naturally sweet. The best mangoes hail from the Philippines and Thailand.

This fruit can be served plain, just cut up or can also be a special ingredient in whipped cream-gelatin based concoctions, in cakes and even in ice cream.Its dried counterpart,is commonly eaten as a snack or used as a fruit extender in cooking.

This is a favorite fruit of Asians .

Mango Cobbler

Cobbler Topping

1/2 cup butter

1/4 cup sugar

1//2 cup all purpose flour

Mango Filling:

2 pieces fresh mangoes

2-3 T. sugar (depending on the mango)

1 T. cornstarch

1 T. brandy

Cut butter into cubes.

Combine flour and sugar, then add to butter. With pastry blender, cut in butter to flour mixture. The mixture should resemble coarse grains of sand. Chill.

Peel mangoes and slice 1/4 inch thick.

In a bowl, combine all the ingredients for the filling. Toss to coat evenly.

Arrange mango mixtre in small individual ovenproof molds. Cover completely with topping.

Bake in preheated oven at 425 F for about 10 - 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Best served warn with a scoop of ice cream.

Be on the lookout for mangoes that have a rich yellow color and the skin is free from bruises. The mangoes should be plump so there is more meat to it and is soft when pressed.
