This drink originated from Indonesia. Pale green in color, it is very refreshing on a hot day. Decorate with sprigs of mint and use frosted glasses.
Cucumber Limeade 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (around three large, juicy limes, can also subsitute Philippines limes or calamansi 10-15 pieces) 6 T. sugar or to taste 1 good-sized cucumber 10 ice cubes Mix the lime juice and sugar thoroughly and pour equally into two glasses. Peel the cucumber and cut in half lengthwise. Remoive the seeds. Chop remaining cucumber pieces that have been cut coarsely and put it into blender. Blend until smooth. Add in ice cubes into blender and blend till desired consistency. Pour into glasses with lime juice, mix thoroughly. Serve at once. *************** A thick, highly nutritious drink. Can also be seen as a breakfast drink for people on the go.Makes use of tropical fruits commonly found in the region. Tropical Smoothie 1 ripe mango peeled, pitted and diced 1 medium ripe papaya peeled and diced 1 kiwi fruit peeled and diced 1 banana peeled and diced 1 c. lowfat plain or vanilla yogurt Combine fruits in blender. Add yogurt and blend till thick. May add powdered cloves before serving for a more exotic flavor. Can make smoothie thinner by using one half cup lowfat milk and a half cup yogurt. Can use other fruits in various proportions, just adjust quantity of liquid. Can also smoothen mix with addition of crushed ice.
