ASA 2001 Schedule AnnouncedAmerican Speed Association (ASA) Update ASA driver, David Anspaugh, injured in a practice session in Milwaukee is slowly recovering according to his family. Anspaugh, who had been in a coma since the accident is now awake and showing minimal responses to the hospital environment. While he still can not focus on objects, his eyes are open and he is now breathing through his mouth and nose. The hospital reports that David is consistently responding to pain stimuli and is slowly recovering. His family has established a fund to help with the costs of medical care. Box 357 Angola IN 46703 The name of the fund is a reference to the fact that besides being a popular ASA driver, Anspaugh is the Superintendent of Schools for the Waldron Area Schools in Waldron, Michigan. Anspaugh holds a Doctorate in Educational Administration. The family states that any money in excess of medical expenses will be used to establish a scholarship for needy students. The ASA announced its 2001 schedule. The 20 race schedule will be telecast on The National Network (TNN). 2001 ASA Series Race/TV Schedule This week's season finale will be the October 14th, BFGoodrich Tires 200 at Gateway International Speedway in Madison, Illinois. One feature of the race will be the first ASA start for Tina Gordon. If she qualifies, she would be only the seventh female to start an ASA race.
