Themes Like A Good Idea.

Creativity Specialists such as Julia Cameron and creativity systems such as Life On Purpose and Higher Awareness describe the creative/artistic process as "theming."

By this, I mean that it is hard to become a successful artist unless you can find a way to create a personal/systematic approach to your daily living style which allows art to take top priority without allowing it to swamp or overwhelm you.

"Do the work and the money will come!"

People notice when an artist is working well. The reason they notice is because the artist is convincing within the framework of a theme that he or she cares for and is passionate about. The theme artists choose to represent through artwork or writing is usually very closely and intimately related to the things that they care about in normal day-to-day living.

By knowing where you are heading, and by achieving a sense of personal mastery, authors can create for themselves a unique "artistic system." By this, I mean something as simple as,

"I get up in the morning and I know exactly what to do."
"My journal helps me heal from life's hurts whilst at the same time gives me artistic direction."
"When I draw for five minutes a day my painting technique seems to keep up with the new information I am learning!"
This sense of purpose and clear artistic direction will not "just evolve," of course; you will have to steer the ship. A strong sense of commitment to learning art techniques and recording impressions will lend itself to the development of a strong sense of artistry.

This sense of mastery can flow through into partnerships with related businesses in the arts-- Publishers; Art Material Suppliers; Affirmation Systems; Gift Stores. The affiliations could be with people who offer services of value to writers, artists and publishers. The networking potential is truly amazing in its scope and ready availability.

I am suggesting not only that each artist who comes through the SuiteU Art and Craft Department develop their own set of affiliations - I am also suggesting that all the tools needed for each and every one of us to do this is readily available here at the Suite!

I am also suggesting that the environment is a friendly, successful environment that will nurture and encourage you to reach your true creative potential, whilst the artistic learning continues hand in hand with confident business acumen.

Here is an example of a successful artist whose business is evolving here in the Art and Craft Department. (I also hear Brenda is branching out into other areas too! Shhhs! That is just a rumor.) If we look closely at what Brenda has done, we will be able to see where Artists, Writers and those who offer services like Graphical Representation could soon be headed.
