In Memorium: Ace Space

On December 13th, the world lost one of the last great storytellers. One who embraced the new medium and potential of the internet, and let his art flow out to any who would visit.

Ace Space, also known as Dana Atchley, the man who started the Digital Storytelling annual festival and conference, and pushed digital storytelling to the next level, died of a complication that arose as a result of a marrow transplant he received earlier this year. He is survived by his wife, Denise.

His site, located at http://www.nextexit.com , is a testiment to Ace's work, and holds a wealth of information and entertainment through his storytelling.

What most don't know is that Ace also created artistamps, which he called StampMutations. You can see an example of his work on Jas Felter's site: http://jas.faximum.com/jas.d/asg_224.htm . We've lost one of our own.

There is to be a memoral service for Dana Winslow Atchley III at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2001 in San Francisco, at the Cowel Theater, For Mason Center. More information about this memorial can be found on his site, nextexit.com.

Rest in peace, Ace.
