Horror/Fantasy©
Well, this month thousands of children and adults will celebrate
Halloween on October 31st. Halloween is an ancient tradition that the Irish who are of Celtic background brought over to America in the 1800's. The Celtic people believed that one night
out of the year the dead would come back and have a great feast
with the living. Of course this was pure fantasy but the legend
continues.
Horror and Fantasy art and writing have their highest peak around this time of year. Most of us enjoy a good scare, and we love seeing/hearing good defeat evil. Horror/Fantasy use to be mostly a male gender market with male writers/artists and male fans ranging in age from 12 to 25. Good news though that has all changed within the past ten years. Males as well as females enjoy horror and fantasy, plus the fans range from 12 to 55 now. What this means is a bigger market for Horror/Fantasy. To be a writer or artist of Horror or Fantasy you must be interested in these genres yourself. If romance or adventure appeal to you then chances are you will not be able to create horror or fantasy. With that said or written we can move on. An excellent resource for horror or fantasy writers is the now defunct suite101.com site "Publish your short Fiction" by Laura Elvin,a horror writer. Ms.Elvin has moved on but you can still gain access to her former site. The articles are good and helpful plus there are resources to go to. Take a while to check it out I am sure it can be helpful to you. Artist keep reading. "http://www.suite101.com/welcome.cfm/publ..." Drawings and paintings of horror and fantasy have become very popular. Illustrators make big bucks doing book or movie covers. Building monsters, goblins, gremlins, out of clay bring in money also. To get started in drawing monsters take a free art lesson. Art wow offers lessons plus resources for artists. Check it out: Have a fun Halloween and a fun month. Stay well and healthy. Say a pray to the victims of the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington D.C.,and Western Pa. and God willing may the evil that struck on 9/11/01 in U.S.A. never happen again. Let good prevail over evil.
