To Record Label ExecsBut where does this tie in with solving a problem or connecting with artists. Easy, Piece of Cake, it's right in front of your eyes! Because the public wants to listen to only what they want, why not give it to them. Each Record Label generally has several artists underneath of their label and they have publishing rights, or at least I should hope so to some degree. So why can't they create an on the fly compilation album of a buyer's desire? Custom made CDs with the tracks we want to hear. A website can easily be set up to help a user navigate through a record labels available artists and song and 12 songs can easily be fit on a CD (usually). This way a user can log in, pick 12 songs they want to listen to from all available artists under record label, chose a cover, buy it with a Credit Card and get it shipped in 3 to 7 days. The cost could be low and charge a flat fee for a single song on a single CD of an appropriate amount to not lose money and then add songs onto that for a low cost per song. Artists get a percentage of the profits based upon the number of songs they sell in a year. But let's step back for a second, "Chose a Cover". That's right. I think that the average user should have a chance to pick a pre-designed cover or upload a JPG to put on the CD Face. Artists such as those that read these articles and others out there who enjoy designing 'skins' could design attractive graphics to be printed on CDs for a little exposure of their own. You, the record labels, would not pay them of course but the chance of exposing one's own art to large audience might just be the carrot to leave the horse along. A little pre-printed magic (lighten image so text and the record label logo can be printed on every one) can go a long way into helping create the final CD. So Choose your 12 favorite songs on a record label, upload your CD Image, pay with the credit card, and in a week music you'll not have to skip through to enjoy. I can see it coming. Fellow Artists, start thinking in CD shapes for good pieces of art.
