The Aromatherapy Necklace

The Aromatherapy Necklace

Wouldn't it be nice if you could take your essential oil diffuser wherever you went? Like the gym or the supermarket. Well you actually can. Aromatic jewelry has once again become popular and allows you to use and diffuse your favorite pure essential oil wherever you go. These necklaces can even be used in small, confined spaces such as a car with great success. Due to their growing popularity a number of types of necklaces have come onto the market. Some work better compared to others and some will leave your clothes ruined and your essential oils waited. Below is an overview of the numerous types of necklaces:

  • Stoppers and vials: These types of necklaces usually have a metal wand that may be used when ever you wish to apply the essential oil of your choice. Usually this includes the neck and pressure points. The actual essential oil holding area is either a glass vile or a metal container of some sort. This type of necklace unfortunately does not allow for the diffusion of the oil. Instead the top must be opened and the wand used manually to gain benefit from the essential oils within. The glass vile, often made of clear glass, can also pose a problem by way of evaporation and denaturing. All essential oils should be kept in dark colored glass containers (such as brown or blue) to prevent the oil from loosing its ability to perform correctly.

  • Aromatic beads: Not often seen, this interesting concept uses clay that has been infused with essential oil prior to firing or air drying. After they are cured, they are strong on necklaces and always seem to retain some semblance of scent. It isn't certain if they can be revived with a soaking in essential oil. This would likely only create a mess on both you and your clothing.

  • Ceramic diffuser: This type of necklace usually has a ceramic piece that holds or is dipped in essential oil. The porous nature of the ceramic or clay readily soaks up the oil and diffuses it over time. Especially when body heat is involved. Some are in the shape of small amphora pots or other figures. For many, this is an easy to use means of essential oil diffusion on a personal scale. The only problem is that if you try to lay down or bend foreword, the oil will usually run out causing a large mess. Don't wear you're finer things with this type of necklace!
