Sleep on ItSleep on It Researchers have now confirmed that sleep and dreaming actually helps your brain to learn and understand what you observed that particular day. Hence, why sleeping on major decisions is a good idea. You must however be in the realm of REM (rapid eye movement) in order to benefit from sleep and many people only have a small window of opportunity to reach this stage. This, in addition to causing sleepiness in the working hours, can lead to a lack of creditability and logic. The key is getting to that important REM stage of sleep. Essential oils can help in a very non-invasive manner to foster this. In a number of studies done on senior citizens with sleep problems, a reported beneficial effect was seen after the application of lavender on the wrists and on patients bed pillows. The lavender appeared to help create a more restful manner, which allowed the body to slow down and begin to rest. This slowing down can also be done once a day aside from normal sleep. Simply sit down in a quiet area of the home and office for about 15 to 30 minutes with your eyes closed. Slow breaths are to be taken and you may wish to roll your head to loosen muscles. A diffuser with lavender or a bit placed on your pressure points can aid in relaxation. Such rest moments have been found to release stress and even lower blood pressure. It can also lead to your brain being able to formulate and digest information, thus becoming smarter. This would be especially beneficial to students of any age or for preparing to take a proctored test. This is where essential oils used to heighten memory can be combined with the lavender at night to really boost brain function the nest day. Specifically clary sage essential oil is recommended for such purposes. Clary sage has a very distinctive scent however, that some may not like. Some studies have shown that when it came to essential oils being used on an olfactory level (nose to brain connection), the actual liking of the scent was very important. So while clary sage is indicated for mind sharpening, finding an essential you really adore may work just as well. -MAM Learn More About Insomnia Here
