Aromatic WaterfallsAromatic Waterfalls Yes, they are almost everywhere! All shapes and sizes, all prices! Waterfalls, no not Angel falls but indoor table top models are taking the country by storm. With good reason, too. They add white noise to a room, which tunes out the sometimes annoying outside banter of cars, emergency vehicles and loud music. It helps you concentrate on your work and feel more relaxed. The water evaporates in the air and acts as a cold humidifier for year-round moisture in the air. The constant bubbling and movement of the water can give your eyes a nice, mesmerizing rest away from the computer screen and work. What is even more interesting is many models now come with little bottles of essential oil, for use in the waterfall. While the quality of the oil they sell with the units are probably little more than fragrance oils, you can easily venture to the store (or computer) to buy your favorite, Aromatherapy grade essential oil. Most table top waterfalls use a hose and pump system that keeps the water following. Essential oils will normally not effect such workings. You still may wish to ask the equipment seller if it is all right to use essential oils in the water. The amount to use may be specified on the unit by the manufacturer... or you can simply use 15 to 20 drops. Since you're not applying it to your skin, the need to dilute is not needed and it would be better scent wise to use non-prediluted essential oils. The essential oils will evaporate faster than the water, so you will need to add more every few days or when you no longer detect any type of scent anymore. The benefits for using essential oils in this manner are extremely many... especially if you work in a large office setting. Air born germs are all too prevalent and essential oils, released in the air and confined to a small area can really help to kill both germs and fungus. It can also help to purify the air, perhaps helping with "sick building" syndrome and other problems frequently found in office settings. Key oils to try with your waterfall include Lavender, Geranium and Rose. These are very well tolerated by fellow employees. To help keep you lucent, try Peppermint or Orange. To keep calm and relaxed try Sandalwood if your a woman or Lemongrass if you're a man. -MAM
