Filling Ones Home with Aromatherapy

Filling Ones Home with Aromatherapy

In addition to essential oils being used on a personal scale, they can be allowed to spread freely through the air of one's home as well. In addition to purifying the air, they can calm, rejuvenate, spawn creativity, drive away the blues, etc. Therefore, choosing the right essential oil, not necessarily scent, is quite important. One must remember not all essential oils are aromatically pleasing... some are quite strange smelling (such as tea tree and myrrh). This doesn't mean they don't work; excluding them because they may not smell pleasant like roses or orange will only mean missing out on a possible healing experience. To engage proper sleep, choose essential oils that foster such. Not peppermint or a spicy tangerine. Likewise, for the bathroom or exercise room, where the goal is to "wake up", the latter would be quite useable. Researching the oil is worth your time.

Now, how to fill your home with the essential oils scent. Many will instantly think of incense or candles. While incense is quite popular, it is filling you homes air with smoke, which for some can cause breathing problems. Constant exposure to smoke can cause lung damage and problems. So moderation is key as well as proper ventilation when using incense. Unfortunately, not very much essential oil can be soaked into the incense stick enough, so healthful effects are minimal. Many people simple burn one stick at time, which once again would not be enough. In addition to this, few incense sticks or cones are made with pure essential oils. The same is true of candles. Even when they are made with real essential oils, not enough is added to the wax to fill a whole room with healing properties. Essential oils are quite flammable, hence the moderation in use.

The best way fill your home with the power of Aromatherapy is also the easiest. If you have radiators in your home, use grandmother's trick: place a pot filled with water on top of the radiator and place about 15 to 20 drops essential oil of your choice to the water. Throughout the day, as the water evaporates, so will the essential oil you added. Another method is to place a pot of water on your stove, turn the burner on as low as it will go and add your essential oils. One most always stay in the house while the burner is on however! Homes with small children should also be mindful.
