Your body isn’t the only thing that might need a good workout before summer. In areas with any kind of a climate change, especially coldness and dryness, your skin can be in some dire need of help. Is your skin dry, a bit gray even? If you have been indoors a great deal, taking advantage of the summer sun can easily lead to sunburns. Having dehydrated skin will burn even faster. This is why it is impotent to get your skin into good shape before it's time for taking off to the beach or a picnic lunch on the green is upon us. Wearing sunblock is of course always important as well.

In order to bring out that luminous quality of your skin from neck to toe you will most likely need a good full body sloughing. Using an exfoliator will help new, plumper skin cells to emerge and also get blood flowing. Instead of buying a product which may contain fragrance oils and other additives, why not make your own spa scrub? Most of the items can be found right in your kitchen. Buy a few glass jars (the type they use for gel candles) and give them as gifts or keep a stockpile in your bathroom.

The essential oils can be up to you. Which ever oil(s) you decide on, make sure they are ones you really enjoy the scent of. Make a special foot scrub with peppermint. Use grapefruit for bumpy skin. Create a morning scrub with ylng ylng or an evening one with lavender. Our recipe is for green tea and lavender, a wonderful restorative combination.

- 1 part sea salt
- 1 part sugar
- 1/4 part olive or jojoba oil
- 1/4 part baby oil (optional)
- 1 green tea bag
- 5 to 10 drops of pure essential oil of lavender
- lavender flowers (optional)
- flip top glass jar

Taking the oil(s) gently heat them until warm. Add the green tea bag and allow it to steep for half an hour. Mix salt, sugar and lavender flowers (if used) together and add essential oil of lavender. When oil mixture is cool, remove tea and add to the dry ingredients. Mix well and place in jars. To use, take a good amount in your hand and massage it onto wet skin. Use upward motions and work in well, as you would for dry brushing. Rinse thoroughly with tepid water.

You will find your skin very smooth and soft after using this. This smooth skin then becomes the perfect canvas for a rich moisturizing treatment such as an essential oil
