Questions and answers regarding palm species, cold tolerance, diseases, germination, and more are exchanged here. In existence since 1956, the IPS supports the publication of a quarterly journal "Palms," as well as supports its website, this discussion list, and an endowment fund which aids scientific study of palms around the world. Joining the discussion list is free and available to members and non-members. This one is my personal favorite!

For those in Southern Canada (I'm in zone 6b in downtown Toronto)and the northern U.S. who enjoy growing sub tropical palms,yucca's and other warm climate plants. This is a discussion group that shares information,experiences and photos of different plants which they have grown.

I am on a palm-thing right now so bare with me, you all. If you don't like palms and won't open your mind to them then I suggest climbing a canary island date palm with its 4 inch spines on the petioles (leaf bases). If this doesn't help, climb the heavily armed Astrocaryum chambira. Maybe this will put some respect in your perspective.
