NBC Joins AFL team

The latest news from the AFL is very good. After NBC lost the bid to show NFL games, and after its disasterous partnership with the doomed XFL, NBC has entered into a contract to show the Arena Football League's games.

Personally, I'm very relieved. I don't think that the league would have survived if it had not had a contract. Most teams have been losing money hands over fists recently.

The NFL has yet to mention it's intention as to wether it will purchase any part of the AFL. Without that financial innoculation, I believe the league would still survive. With Jerry Jones' new team, and other NFL owners interested, I don't see what's the hold-up.

Anyway, this TV contract is a godsend, and the AFL remains alive.

In other news: John Gruden, the brother of ex-Predators' coach and now quarterback Jay Gruden, got the head coaching job at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he asked Jay Gruden to come to the NFL as the Bucs' QB coach. Amazingly enough, Jay opted to remain as the Preds signal caller for another season.
