The league office has approved the request to move the Portland Forest Dragons to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma starting for the 2000 season and beyond. The decision was made despite better than average attendance and despite the team having just missed going to the playoffs last season. According to the owner of the team and league officials, the reason for the move was because the current owner, who lives in Memphis, Tennessee, couldn't find a buyer in the Portland area. The Forest Dragons, which was the team that Miami Dolphins receiver Orande Gadsden played with, will be sold to buyers in Oklahoma City.
Walter Payton and others in the Chicago area were awarded an AFL franchise for the city of Chicago before the NFL Legend passed away. He was a friend of the Arena League and all of us fans are saddened by the loss. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Alvin Ashley, the highly regarded WR/DB with the New Jersey RedDogs who was traded to Orlando for AFL Superstar Barry Wagner, was traded to the Milwaukee Mustangs for OL/DL Earnest Allen. Ashley is a former Mustang and is familiar with QB Todd Hammel's throwing style. Allen was a star lineman for the Mustangs and will fill a need for the Orlando Predators. Go To Page: 1
