Wolverines rarely use their vocal cords except for infrequent grunts and snarl and growls when agitated.
Conservation
Today scientists list the Wolverine as a threatened species. Very few if none at all inhabittheir former range in the United States. Also most wolverines disappeared over most of southeastern and south-central Canada. In Scandinavia observers suggest one individual exists in a 125 to 300 square mile. The population of Wolverines decreased because of trapping and hunting by those who believe the Wolverine a nuisance. Some Wolverines still inhabit the northern Soviet Union.
